How to go LIVE on TikTok

In the TikTok app, tap the + button at the bottom, tap LIVE, add a title and tap Go LIVE. To go LIVE you must be at least 18 and have 1,000 followers, though TikTok says the follower requirement may vary across regions, and it may ask you to confirm your age first.

Go LIVE from the TikTok app

  1. In the TikTok app, tap the + button at the bottom.
  2. Tap LIVE at the bottom. You may need to scroll across.
  3. Add a title, and use LIVE tools or adjust your LIVE settings.
  4. Tap Go LIVE to start.

During a LIVE, tap More at the bottom, then Settings, to change its tools and safety settings. To end it, tap End LIVE at the top, then End now.

How many followers you need to go LIVE

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have 1,000 followers. TikTok notes this may vary across regions.
  • To send or receive Gifts during a LIVE, you must be at least 18, or 19 in South Korea.

LIVE and Gift features aren’t available everywhere yet.

Confirming your age

TikTok may ask you to confirm you’re 18 or older before you go LIVE, depending on where you are and whether you’ve confirmed before. Depending on your location, you confirm with photos of a government-issued ID and three selfies from different angles, or with your ID and a live selfie through TikTok’s partner Incode.

If TikTok can’t confirm your age, you can’t go LIVE. If it confirms you’re under 18, LIVE stays closed to you.
