The best time to post on YouTube is 11 a.m. Eastern, and the best days are Saturday and Sunday, in a study of 4,321 videos from 186 channels in US Eastern cities. The differences are small: the median video earned between 0.96× and 1.05× its channel’s usual views in every hour with enough videos, so what you post matters more than when.

How this study works

We searched YouTube for local businesses and creators in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando and Charlotte, with 10 niche terms from “realtor”, “living in” and “food” to “vlog”, and kept public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers whose name or description names their city. Every one is on US Eastern time, so each video’s hour is the hour it went up where the channel is.

From each channel we read its latest videos and Shorts and kept those from the past year: 4,321 videos from 186 channels in US Eastern cities, posted between October 1, 2025 and September 24, 2026. Each video is scored against its own channel’s median views over that year, so a large channel cannot outweigh a small one, and a score of 1.10× means a tenth more views than that channel usually gets.

An hour or day counts only with enough videos behind it: 150 for an hour of the week, 30 for one day’s hour. The study measures views, not reach or watch time, and shows when videos did well, not that the hour made them do well.
