How to clear Instagram cache

On Android, open Settings, tap Apps, then Instagram, then Storage & cache, and tap Clear cache. That deletes Instagram’s temporary data, not your account. iPhone Storage has no cache button for an app: Offload App frees the space Instagram uses while keeping its documents and data. Separately, Instagram can clear its own in-app browser’s cookies and cache.

Clear Instagram cache on Android

  1. Open your phone’s Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps, then Instagram. If you can’t see it, tap See all apps, then Instagram.
  3. Tap Storage & cache, then Clear cache.

Clear cache deletes temporary data, so Instagram may be slow the next time you open it. Clear storage is different: it permanently deletes all of the app’s data on your phone. Settings can vary by Android device.

Clear Instagram cache on iPhone

iPhone Storage offers two things for an app, and no separate cache button: offloading frees up the storage the app uses but keeps its documents and data, and deleting removes the app and its related data.

  1. Open Settings, tap General, then iPhone Storage.
  2. Tap Instagram.
  3. Tap Offload App to free its storage and keep its data, or Delete App to remove it and its data.

Clear the cache of Instagram’s in-app browser

  1. Tap any link inside Instagram to open its in-app browser.
  2. Tap Options in the top right, then Browser settings.
  3. Tap Clear cookies and cache, then Clear browsing data to confirm.

This clears the cookies, cache and storage data of the websites you’ve visited inside Instagram, on Android, iPhone and iPad.
